19sep2005 - Introduction

Hello, my name is Kenneth Cheung; I am a first year SMarchS student, here at MIT, in the Computation and Design group. My main research interest is in the application of evolutionary algorithms for architectural design, and I am currrently working with the house_n Media Lab group, getting acquainted with wireless sensor technology, for ubiquitous computing applications. My background includes a professional degree in architecture from Cornell University, as well as research assistantships in the fields of experimental psychology and plant biomechanics.

Making things might be my favorite activity, whether it be functional tools (I have a bicycling habit that has translated into a fascination with all things engineered... or vice versa), contributing to aspects of social environs (I am particularly interested in environmental public policy issues), or things that are just plain fun.
