_waterjet.cutter&NC.machining_

For this assignment, the class had to make flexures. Initially I had the idea to make a diving board which would flex and project a little man into a tub of water. As I examined this shape, I realized that if I replicated it and aligned the copies it could act as a xylophone.

With this idea in mind, I began to sketch the shape in Omax, the 3D modeling software. The first piece that I produced had ample flexibility, but was too thin. The second was large enough, but too thick to provide any flexibility. Before I could attempt to cut a third piece, the waterjet-cutter broke and was deemed unavailable for the rest of the weekend. So much for my xylophone!
