For this project, I had to understand how the output device and code functioned to then adapt it to my input device (linear position sensor). I began by milling my board and soldering the components onto it. I then proceeded to attach the cable to the LDC screen. After this step had been completed, I realized that although my screen was receiving power, it was unable to output a message.
In my attempt to debug I double-checked the components on the board. Were they in their correct place? And had I attached the right components? The answer to the latter question was NO. I then removed the misplaced components and replaced them with the correct ones. After testing again, I realized that the LCD was still unable to receive messages. What had I done wrong?
I showed my board to Amon, the class TA. And after many hours of debugging and testing, we realized that I had used the schematic for the wrong board. By this point, the next project had already been assigned, and so I decided to accept what Neil referred to as "successfully failing" or "failing successfully."
