week 1: final project proposal

For the first assignment we had to propose an idea for our last project for the class. For my final Project I would like to build a Tracing and Code Mini Vehicle Checker.

The Problem
In the trade coordination process for large scale buildings there is a work of detecting clashes between the different installations and structure and retracing all the necessary pipes and ducts in the project. For high complexity buildings this is a lot of information that should be taken in consideration by the specialists in charge of each project.

The Question
How to check if all this information was really translated to the construction? How to check if pipes and ducts are traced in the right position, with the right slopes, etc.?

A Possible way of Solution
What if you could have an automated checker that could roll through the spaces of buildings and tell you, through different colors of lights, were the different pipes should go, if they are in the right place (in x, y and z)? What if it could give you an output on where things are not complying with safety or other special normative?

This vehicle could have:

A mini screen and buttons, and possibly a connection, to input the information and rules of installations.
Big wheels and servo motors that will allow it to roll through spaces that can have slope and also garbage coming from the same construction.
Laser light and sensors that allow it to measure distance of the different pipes, and also distance to objects so it can navigate without crashing with walls and other things.
A way to output the retrieved information through video or written data.
