final project
What will it do?

Portable press fit gazebo with bench. Ideally with lighting made from rgb leds to look like sunsets or twinkling lights. Laser cut lace fabric panels.

Who's done what before hand?

I did a smaller version for my how to make it big project. I designed a board of rgb leds during networking week, and I wrote code for generating the sorts of colors I want. I already made 3d models for both the bench and gazebo and figured out how to slice them into press fit pieces.

What materials and components will be required?

For the bench, 1 sheet of 1/2" plywood. For the gazebo, sheets of 1/2" plywood. Primer and paint. Fabric. Much 2-sided PCB material, RGB LEDs, mosfets, resistors, attiny44, and other parts for making my boards.

How much will it cost?

Purchased by me: plywood ($65 per sheet), fabric, and paint. I am hoping to use materials for making my boards from the shop.

What parts and systems will be made?

Press fit roof, press fit posts, press fit bench, LED boards, master board, laser cut fabric panels.

What processes will be used?

3d modeling, Shopbot, laser cutting, designing, making, and programming boards.

What tasks need to be completed?

Get materials. Finish design and layout of parts on the plywood. Design posts. Cut all pieces on Shopbot. Mill boards. Network and program boards. Laser cut panels. Paint it.

What questions need to answered?

How do I afix th posts to the roof? Does my new board design actually work? How can I make enough of these boards fast enough? How will I get the plywood here? What fabrics are best to laser cut and where can I get them? Do I have enough time to do all this?

What is the schedule?

On Wednesday, finish design of press fit parts and figure out how I will get materials. As soon as I get plywood, cut out all the parts. In any other free time work on making and programming boards. Fabric panels if I have time. Painting happens last if I have time.

How will it be evaluated?

Is it functional? Can it come apart relatively easily and go back together? Does it look good? Can any features that I didn't get to be easily added later without remaking it?
