I wondered what would happen if I built a giant version of this ultralight, strong, and springy micro lattice. After looking at this ultralight fractal structure, I decided to build the overall geometry to reflect the shape of the small structural module. Maybe that'll make it even stronger?

I started with a few quick paper prototypes to get a feel for how the pieces could be assemble into a 3D node for 8 straws to attach. After 5-8 rounds of modeling a few parts in solidworks, and lasercutting to test the pressfit notches I had a final design.
