3D Cellular Structure

This week I wanted to investigate the GIK approach as a way to
rapidly fabricate and build discrete cellular
composite cardboard
structures.
A single discrete part was used in 2 different configurations to
form space-filling lattice structures.
Each configuration required it's own connection details, although
the base "cell" was joined in the same way for each version.

The different configurations can be seen clearly from above.

Joints consisted of folded score lines, joiner plates, and tapered
pins.
Even Fabio likes it!
There was a mishap, however, that hopefully everyone can learn
from...
I forgot to clean the lens! Cutting cardboard produces a lot of
smoke and carbon, so cleaning the lens periodically is critical to
lens longevity.
Luckily no permanent damage was done, but it could have easily
broken the lens and harmed the machine. (Photo credit: John D)
