Weaire-Phelan Structure

Weaire-Phelan Structure is derived from the Kelvin problem that seeks for an optimum spatial partition based on the arrangement of equal volume cells with the least surface area between them. In other words, this structure represents the most efficient bubble foam structure.

Weaire-Phelan Structure is made of the following two types of convex polyhedrons that are euqal in volume:
- Irregular Do-Deca-Hedron, 12-Face-Polyhedron based on 12 pentagonal faces
- Tetra(kai)-Deca-Hedron, 14-Face-Polyhedron based on 2 hexagonal and 12 pentagonal faces
