Week 5 - Computer Controlled Machining

 

This weeks project involves making a boogie board.

The original design involved wooden strips that would be woven with each other.

This would result in a stronger structure. Furthermore, the embedded cavities would

reduce the weight of the board. The strips assemble with each other so that the

cavities are covered after the board assemblage.

Unfortunately, since the original design was really complicated there

was no time to cut it. Therefore, a simple solid board was cut.

Aligning the bottom and top part was one of the hardest parts of this design. I used

a circle as a reference before moving to the cut.

Sanding the board was important for a smoother result.

Final product
