Computer-Controlled Machining: Hoop Skirt
The goal is to make an old-timey hoop skirt that would look something like:
To do this I made the hoops in solid works.
Then I set the tool paths in VCarve Pro.
Then I cut the hoops on the GEAR lab Shopbot using the Shopbot application.
It turns out I had
put the hoops too close together, not giving enough room for the endmill to pass without cutting up
another piece. Or it'd cut out one piece, which would be loose, and then chew it up.
So I did two rounds of cuts to make them all.
Then I sanded the pieces.
Then I assembled the hoops with zipties.
Then I began to sew the skirt.
Then I broke my sewing machine.
And now it's in the shop.
