This week's project was to build something big. I wanted to make a wine rack. I thought about using 123D AutoDesk to have my 3D design made into 2D printable designs. However, that was not the case since my design was very complicated.
I consulted my friends and they advised me to desing in 2D. Although 3D designing took a lot of time, but it gave me a better guide to better desgin in 2D.
One thing that I learned is that when designing, it is always better to draw in paper and think about the design. Since it is very easy to correct, I learned that it is best to draw first.
Then it saves a lot of time to design since you know all the measurements and just need to copy from your hand drawn desgin
One thing that had problem is that even though I had the right thinkness, the Z axis had a depth problem. It was because I set the Z axis in the middle of the sheet where it was curved a little bit. The best way to measure the Z axis from now no is to measure on the where x and y are close to z where I screwed the sheet into the plate.
Even if I measure the thinkness of the board before I desinged it since I wanted to make a cross-fit design wine rack, there was some marginal error. Since the drill is circular, the edges were a bit circular and did not fit in perfectly. So, I had to grind it a little bit. However, this imperfect was good since they fitted very well when I hammered down. Since I tested two of the legs with the provided sheet and knew that my design worked, I will try to go to Home Depot this week with Vincent to make a better wine rack table with better quality wood.
