HOW TO MAKE (ALMOST) ANYTHING_MAS.863/4.140
For this week assignment we were asked to create an object made of a composite which contains burlap and resin. I wanted to the rigidness of the burlap composite, so I created a case for my glasses.
Milling the foam mold with the Onsrud wad pretty easy and fast
The process of preparing the composite and getting it in to the vacuum bag was quite stressful - you have only 20 minutes until the epoxy starts to cure, and there were 3 of us who entered our objects into the same bag.
Setting the molds in the bag after applying the vacuum
The result - the inner side of the case came out pretty fine, besides the middle part between the two sides of the case. The foam mold at the middle part got deformed during the vacuum...
The outer side of the case was a different story ,as you can see. A lot of resin got accumulated at the bottom, and some foam pieces were stucked inside the material..
