Press Fit Construction Kit: A Viking Hat for John

Step 1: Designing the Hat

There's a bust of John Harvard in the Barker Center (home of English/Hist.+Lit./Religion Departments) that has always looked a little dour. Up on a 10' stone mantel, the bust stares down over the room with a stern I-rest-in-mythological-distance gaze. I thought he needed to lighten up. So we made him a Viking Hat our of laser-cut cardboard. The design came from this sweet little press-fit construction kit from Instructables. The square joint looked like a fronts-piece of a helmet. And half of the shape is a hat! Press-fit Sphere from Instructables
