Introspective Prosthetic Concept

This week’s assignment was to make a press fit construction kit with a laser cutter. So I decided to make a prosthetic that allows one to talk to themselves. We really never hear our own voice unless its played back to us via a a voice message or other sorts of multimedia. So I decided to make a device that allows you talk into the mouth piece and then your voice travels up the cone and comes out right above your right ear.

I began by making schematic sketches of how i thought this “talk to yourself” prosthetic would best fit the human head. I then moved into 3D modeling with Modo, once I had it modeled I then put my file into rhino and used RhinoNest 3.0 to slice the model.

Clearly this is just a prototype for the “talk to yourself” prosthetic, since its just the skeletal frame. I plan to eventually create a skin to cover the frame, so it has the ability to carry sound.

Vinyl Cutting

I also dabbled in vinyl cutting this week. I created a few stickers of my name. Very cool tool.
