For my final project, I want to make a “Sunrise Simulator.” I’ve noticed that when I wake up on a rainy day it takes a while for me to get out of bed. When I wake up to sun streaming through my window, however, I feel super refreshed!
The long-term idea is to use a “daylight” lamp bulb under a shade that filters the light (simulating light peeking through tree leaves and branches). This can possibly be made using composites or lasercut bristol.
The bulb and shade would be connected to a motor and some sort of timer. I can set the timer as an alarm, and when the time is up the bulb will gradually brighten and the shade will shift so that the filtered light will move across my bed.
I’m not sure how much of this project is within the scope of the class, especially the electronics part since I’ve never worked with that before. Anyhow, this is the general idea and will probably develop more over time!
