How to make (almost) anything

Week 14 - Machine building

http://fab.cba.mit.edu/classes/863.14/projects/central/TableDocumentation.html. This week our section (central) did a group project where we built a 3-axis machine which played chess! The end effector was a magnet on the end of a stick that could drag around nuts through a masonite board. My contribution to this project was debugging the electronics initially with Semon, helping assemble the final playing table, setting up the machine for its final tests, and fixing the machine so it would fit inside the playing table.

A quick update on the final project: It is going. Multiple pieces need to come together in time: large format circuit design and "cutting" with the vinyl cutter. 3-axis milling on the Onsrud. Poster printing for a map overlay. Modela milling for a Raspberry Pi breakout board. Lots to do!
