Zach Cohen / How to Make (almost) Anything

Electronics Production / In-circuit Programmer

In this assignment, I milled and soldered a circuit board to make an in-circuit programmer. My first attempts at milling the board were unsuccessful as the bit only made contact with a portion of the surface. After moving the board around to different parts of the bed, I determined that it was not level one one side so I moved the board to the middle and finally got it to work.

After soldering all of the components to the board, I consulted with a TA who pointed out some key issues that might get in the way of functionality. In particular, there were cold joints, areas with insufficient solder, and some remnants of solder braid left behind.

I corrected the errors and test-programmed the board to ensure that all of the connections worked.
