Machine Building - Panckage Printer, aka "Makey Cakey"

This week was fun and intense. We decided to build a Pancake printer using a CNC mill, off-the-shelf electronics, and homemade batter.

Erin Genia in our team graciously made the batter for us (and for doing a lot of mechanical shopbot work!)

We spent the entire weekend to mill out the 48"x48" HDPE material given to us for making the machine. Lot's of toolpath errors, version control issues, and bits breaking.

We had to print 8+ different toolpaths to the ShopBot in order to get the curved edges, gradients, holes, and counterbores. Special thanks to George, Burhan, Anna, and Safinah for helping on this.

It finally worked out though!

Kyung and Safinah did an amazing job in manufacturing the end effector for the pancake batter.

And of course, where would we be without the software skills of our programming team (Sean Hickey, Emily Salvador, Tomas Vega, Pinar Yanardag, Agnes Cameron). #modlyfe

Our goal was to print Neil :)

Special thanks and credit to Jake Read from CBA for providing immense help in getting this done.
