I really love Dada art movement (which in their definition should not be called an art movement), but I know the time era for Dada has past. What I was thinking is to create a contemporary Dada sculpture, on which I will apply the fabrication skills I will learn this semester. Thus, I made a contemporary version of the Dada sculpture.
Making Process:
I used Fusion 360 by Autodesk
I used Raoul Hausmann’s sculpture as the reference, realizing that the sculpture consists of numerous symbols that signify the human body.
I sketched simple geometric shapes on 2D, and then extrude, rotate, move them around to assemble this head. I also fillet some of the corners and edges.
Then it was the most interesting part——choosing the materials and colors for the head. Some of the materials were not rendered when I put them on, so I had to actually render the whole thing for multiple times to test the materials out.
