3D Scanning and Printing

For this week’s assignment, we’ve been testing out the limits of the different MIT 3D printers, I’m working primarily with a cheaper one (3DWox) and the more expensive one (ZCorp).

I started the process by scanning interesting objects:

I will be pasting a more detailed description of my results on this scan, here. Unfortunately, the 3D print with the ZCorp or architecture ABS printers is backlogged.

The more interesting part of the assignment this week is printing an object that can only be printed by the 3D method.

I’m currently designing the STL model for this, as it relates directly to my final projector (a film projector, shaped like an artillery weapon for displaying war trauma-related footage).
