- an X-Y-Z Cartesian gantry
and
- a leadscrew-driven syringe pump.

The vast majority of published studies employing direct ink writing use very expensive (>$15K) gantries with
proprietary software.
We demonstrate its accuracy by printing high fidelity 3D living structures made from GFP engineered bacteria embedded within a thermo-reversible
gel that fluoresce under UV light.
