Week 6 - Computer-Controlled Machining

Week 6 - Computer-Controlled Machining

2018, Oct 10

Notes:

  • OSB (Oriented Strand Board) is cheap to start with
  • Vendor: MCMaster-Carr, Home Depot
  • Flat is usually better than ball end-mill
  • Fixture: wood screw
  • t-bone: remain some thin connection and pop off finally to make parts not move
  • ShopBot

CNC

We are using Spiral down cut 1/4 shank endmill to cut the OSB wood. The wood is 48”x96”x7/16”. Using Shopbot to cut.

I need a customized cabinet in my bedroom, so here’s the design and fabrication.
