This week we had to make some sort of device that outputted an input by the user. Since my
final project will be electric roller skates I played around with brushless DC motors and electronic speed controllers.
2. Oscilloscope
Figure 1. Saw the ESC pulse width modulation signal through the oscilloscope.
Figure 2. Look at signals from the motor on oscilloscope.
Figure 3. More signal processing as I try to distinguish the 3 wires out of the motor.
3. Testing motor
Figure 4. Tested RPM of motor by adding a paper and using a photosensitive resistor (shoutout to Rob)
Figure 5. Set up for the BLDC and ESC testing.
Figure 6. Zoom in of my dope set up.
4. Final Product
Figure 7. Inputting different PWM signals to change velocity!
5. Extra Stuff
Figure 8. Trying to increase the voltage of the battery to 12 V necessary by soldering (fail).
Figure 9. Heat shrinking for the first time wasn't so hot
Figure 10. Heat shrink finished!
Figure 11. Tried combining a "dead" battery with a working one to get close to 12 V (fail).
Figure 12. Make shift 12V battery with 1 9V and 2 1.5V batteries pressed together in series by copper!
