# vinyl & laser cutting ## vinyl Stickers! i made a bunch of band merch plus a logo flip of yamato transport's mama cat carrying its kitten.  the original yamato transport logo  my out-of-this-world version.  ## characterizing a laser cutter the group measured the width of several cuts in the cardboard made with the harvard sc102 laser cutter and compared them to the widths that were set in the dxf files. we divided the difference by 2 and averaged the results to determine the kerf of the laser. we also determined notches of the width 3.6mm are ideal for snapping together our cardboard of 4.0mm thickness.  ## cardboard kit(s) first i experimented with making a very basic hexagonal shape to snap things together.  then i tried to get a little bit more ambitious by designing a kit based on this origami unit fold that can be used to build cubes and geometric shapes modularly.  However the thickness of the cardboard proved to be a big challenge when it came to folding and interlocking.  i opted to go simpler again and traced the outline for a single monkey and cut enough to fill a barrel o' them.
