Week 12: Mechanical Machine Design - Pass for now
Since the semester was one week shorter than usual, this week's work
was cut. I'm still very interested in making machines
since it's something I've felt soared way above my head.
But now I'm considering a smol machine may be acessible...
This week's recitation helped reinforce my understanding of degrees of freedom.
In order to control 3D motion, 3 motors are needed. This was
especially applicable to one of the demoed machines
that used strong fishing line and 2 motors to draw 2D images, since
it was not set up in the typical X-Y motor directions, but had
modified capstan-like redirects.
And for the curious, the photo in the home page is of the bot in the ArchShops.
I do not know how it works, but it looks majestic.
