Week One: Computer Aided Design

Assignment and Idea:

This week we were asked to sketch out a final project using digital tools. My final project Is a digial scarecrow. It will be soemthing with a retractable canopy and a sensor and noise device to scare birds that are close, but not harm them. The canopy covers the plant and lets light and air in via a mesh netting, but aims to keep birds and flying insects out, with the netting being fine enough to prevent a bug from flying in or a bird from pecking through.

I live on an old farm in Western Massachusetts with my family: Erica and our son, Robert. We have been growing some of our own food, and have a number of mature plants and trees on our property. Our son loves to pick blueberries from the blueberry bush near our driveway with mommy and daddy - our local birds love to pick as well, dramatically impacting the yield of fruit we can pick and consume.

I acknowledge one resource that helped me greatly with this sketch: ChatGPT 3.5, which took my text description of a design with an umbrella, speaker, and sensor, and turned it into an SVG in HTML .
