Introduction to Power Electronics

While we start feeling comfortable with playing around laptops or microcontrollers that can be simply powered by batteries, we almost hardly feel confident with tinkering a single MOSFET or four-layer diode or AC/DC converter that can handle several amps and tens of voltages. Genereally speaking, the former 'advanced' electronic systems process 'information', in contrast, the latter more 'bold' electronic guys deal with 'electrical energy'. In the lecture, I simply introduced the basic principle of power electronics as a high efficient interface between different electronic systems and the major devices employed in power electronics. This lecture lays down the fundation for following lectures on motor control theory and practice.
