Week 9: Stories/Narratives

Lecture: Introduction to communicating ideas and building a design/product identity. Discussion on the different ways that design can impact people’s experiences. Examples of narratives in different media that describe a product’s use. Articulating the broader vision behind a design concept or project.
Lab: Desk crits - Develop a storyboard that depicts a narrative for your idea and produce a quick film based on the storyboard (could be video, sketches, animation, slideshow) that communicates the basic concepts of your project as a story.
Guest: Patrick Winston
Assignment: In preparation for your final review, deliver a short verbal and visual presentation that highlights the main concept, functionality and broader vision/implementation of your design.
