- create a "hello world" printed circuit board (pcb)

making the pcb

I used the Modela and cad.py to create the example PCB in class, mostly following Stephen's notes on how to operate the Modela (Dawn's notes were also very helpful). The only thing I didn't do exactly as described in the notes was use a 0.05 cutting depth for cutting through the board -- the default value of 0.065 in the hello world cad file was just fine.
The first time I set up the Modela, it didn't cut the board. I guess I hadn't extended the bit far enough. Eric recommended making sure less of the bit was exposed while I was positioning the height, which was good advice, and seemed to fix all my problems. This explanation would probably make more sense with a picture, I don't think I'll have time to draw one before class but I'll try to get one up later this week.
The most difficult part of this assignment for me was soldering. I've soldered before, but never with parts so tiny!
