Overview:
E15-039 is used for tensile testing, composite layup, moulding and casting, thermal processes and soldering. In this room there may be epoxies, adhesives and resins, carbon fibre, hot furnaces and soldering irons, and various chemicals.
E15-039 is adjacent to E15-023 where fluorine gas is used. If the fluorine alarm sounds (blue flashing light and alarm), evacuate immediately to back corridor.

- Tensile testing: Instron 4411, 5kN http://www.instron.us/wa/library/StreamFile.aspx?doc=2274
- Oven: Sigma Systems (currently out of order)
- Thermal imager: FLIR A320, http://www.flira320.com/PDF/datasheet_thermal_imaging_camera_flirA320.pdf
- Vacuum bagging equipment: sheeting, bleeder, tapes, adhesive
- Local Exhaust Ventilation: Plymovent, does not replace hood!

General laboratory access:
-Prior to being granted general laboratory access, you must (in order):
- Have your PI request access from Neil Gershenfeld. This is a mutual acknowledgement by both faculty members that you are working in this lab.
- Complete the following MIT EHS online courses/exams. You do not have to retake an exam that you have already completed if the period has not been expired.

- Be given a lab safety tour/training by rm015 EHS representative.
- You must be registered to CBA access list by CBA administrators.

In case of any emergency:
ALERT others in the area, then
NOTIFY MIT Emergency Services (Dial 100).
If the fire alarm sounds, leave the building immediately.
If the blue fluorine alarm sounds, leave immediately.
If ventilation goes down, notify the appropriate Representative below. If there are no hazardous substances in use, you may stay in the lab, but post a visible sign about lack of ventilation.
The facilities closets directly outside 039 in the hallway sometimes leak water. If you notice water coming under one of these doors, notify John DiFrancesco.
The facilities closets outside 039 also sometimes emit beeps and noises. This is not cause for alarm. If you observe noises that continue for more than an hour, notify John DiFrancesco.
