The Zund is a large format cutter. There are a wide range of tools available to use on the Zund for cutting, scoring, creasing, punching and milling.
This is the operator's manual for the Zund.
The Zund machine has modules which mount onto the gantry. Examples include the high speed universal module (UM-ZS), high force universal module (UM-ZP), punch module (PM), and routing module with automatic tool changer (RM-A).
Into the modules, tools are inserted. Examples for the UM-Z* modules are the universal cutting tool (UCT), universal drawing tool (UDT), scoring-cutting tool (SCT), creasing tool (CTT1 and CTT2), electric oscillating tool (EOT-250), kiss-cut tool (KCT), passepartout tool (PPT), V-cut tool (VCT), and driven rotary tool (DRT).
Into the tools, blades are inserted. There are many types of blades, many of which are specific to tools. Information about blades can be found in the Zund accessories and consumables catalog.
One way to use the Zund is to bring an externally generated DXF file...
Improper zeroing and tool malfunction can lead to cutting into the belt. This is undesirable, but reparable. The proceedure is outlined below.
First replace the material in the hole and tape the back using Zund-issued tape (for joining ends of belt during gluing).
Place a sheet of vinyl backing (or similar) under the hole to protect the vacuum table. Apply CA glue (here using 3M brand), pulling the material apart a bit to encourage penetration. Blot away the extra glue with a paper towel. Once cured, sand the glue (here using 120 grit) until it is barely perceptable to the touch.
