 - Getting people to move from being consumers to being their own creators
 - Comes from growing up in a society as a person of color - images in the media + the rest that under cut the notion that you can do things yourself
 - If you control the infrastructure you can tell your story
 - Cowboys doing things
 - Dick + Jone not maping onto my experience
 - Bill Russell made a difference
 - Ch. 2 program + others in late 60s and 70s
 - At MIT in 1970s began to be involved in Cabee - with an interest in content - this was beginning of controling coneten laws
 - City council -> Cablevision
 - 1994 - Began w/ "Community Bytes" Program, supported by community agencies - need to see what community agencies could do
 - National Conference of what came to be seen in Information Highway which was going through communities but they couldn't get on -- mostly driven by military
 - Wanted a more accessable language, thought it would be the Civil rights Issue of the 90s
 - 1996 - Retired + convinced Dean Mitchell at MIT to support community center
 - Friend Allan Itright (spelling ?), 90 yrs old, artist with work to scan in to keep safe
 - Whole idea that technology allowed us to do some things that everyone could control and tell their story
 - People could be creative producers
 - Issue of access to the technology - "Rear wheels of train can't catch up to the front wheels unless something different happens
 - Known Semour 30-40 yrs. + has been interested in tech - but resources are in the suburbs
 - Project on Fuel Cells - to help youth be ready for what is to come
 - Project that Neil is driving with FAB is another approach so that people can see + learn about what is new
 - So space is here to make this ahppen
 - On perosnal basis - make earrings from fruit juice cans - always interested - excited about what is possible
 - Sooner we can get people in to think about what is possible =  the better
 - There over 1,000 communities technology centers in the US and around the world -- All which could be connected
