Basic Formulas and Relations
Units (these units apply unless otherwise noted):
V - voltage in Volts (measure of electrical potential)
I - amperage in Amps (measure of electrons per time)
P - power in Watts (measure of energy per time)
R - resistance in Ohms
C - capacitance in Farads
Ohm's Law:
V = I*R
Power:
P = V*I = V^2/R = I^2 * R
n resistors in series:
R(tot) = R1 + R2 + ... + Rn
n resistors in parallel:
R(tot) = 1/(1/R1 + 1/R2 + ... + 1/Rn)
n capacitors in series:
C(tot) = 1/(1/C1 + 1/C2 + ... + 1/Cn)
n capacitors in parallel:
C(tot) = C1 + C2 + ... + Cn
