Bio

I am currently a first year PHD student in the Robotic Life group. I have a homepage there (though it is not incredibly informative). I have a background in software and designing interactive (graphical) autonomous characters, and I transitioned on working on similar aspects of character design but for robots when I joined the group. As robotics necessitates the combination of work in hardware and software, I am excited to take this class so I can pull more of my weight hardware wise in the group.

Initial Project Ideas

Ever since I saw a different version of this I knew I wanted to try to build a home version. It is a plantlike robot that responds to proximity with some anxiety by changing colors, crying out, and retreating into its shell. more

Press-Fit Lincoln Logs

For a pressfit assembly kit, I made a cardboard version of the Lincoln Logs toy. more

Water-jetting stone

To learn about the water jet, I decided to try to cut something out of stone. more

Hello World Circuit

Manufacturing a "Hello World" circuit board that sends text over serial. more

Hello World Circuit 2

Manufacturing a second circuit board that send and receives text over serial, as well as controls an LED. more

Serial Helper

A program to help determine the right constants for serial communication for different clock speeds and baud rates. more

Video

Controlling a TV by using a tiny13 to generate a video signal. more

Wireless

Wireless communication using Internet 0 click based bytes and regular audio. more

Linear Stepper

Creating a linear stepper motor using flexible coils more
