This week I learned to work with metal (aluminum).  I experimented with making aluminum more maleable through geometric perforations, and finally made a hanging shelf with curved aluminum pieces.
 Here is a Solidworks sketch of my initial idea, where the aluminum and wood frames would be a wavy texture:
