about me

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

hi! my name is ishani Desai, and i am a graduate student in the course 1 master of engineering degree program on the structural mechanics and design track. i am particularly interested in innovations within intersections of structural engineering, art, and architecture. i am excited for the how to make (almost) anything class to teach me not only how to design and visualize a product but also model and create it. i’m also really excited to see how the tools i learn in this class carry over to structural engineering applications — maybe even apply to my thesis work next semester!

the extent of my fabrication background is some design work in 2d autocad, drawings in gimp, editing in photoshop, and experimenting in solidworks, and additionally, in my Course 1 classes this semester, i will be learning rhino, grasshopper, kangaroo, and karamba3D. i am eager to see how my skills with other 2d, 3d, electronic, etc. fabrication tools improve.

other interests: painting, film photography, house plants, sailing, podcasts, current events/news, coffee
