I was intrigued by the code written by CodeIt
that generates an Escher-inspired pattern, where identical units fill up the entire canvas.
Going further with this, I wanted to make a 3D version of the pattern.
Based on the 32-faced icosahedron – or commonly known as a soccer ball shape –
I replaced the hexagonal face by the units of the pattern.
Then there was a problem. The reds are the parts that cannot be milled with a 3-axis CNC machine,
because the shape creates an overhang. To make it mill-able, I trimmed the parts with other surfaces.
