Machine Design

Inspiration

This week we needed to create a machine that has a moving gantry with a stepper motor.

Parts I created

My duties

My CAD creations

Some printed pieces

Epoxy was used to glue together the seperately printed pieces. We did not print them as one because they would take much longer time and use a lot more support material.

Fixing gantry

Before adding band to gantry, I need to reprint the band holder and assemble it.

After printing, I meed to assemble the band and tighten it so that it is constrained to one degree of freedom.

CAD and Laser Cut

To reinforce the assembly, Antonella and I created a front plate for the machine. We used solidworks.

After making a CAD assembly, we laser cut the piece onto white acrylic using the default settings

Testing Pumps

Then I used a power supply to test the pumps before assembling.

Testing Stirer

I also designed a holder for two magnets to spin the magnet inside the cup. The holder would hold two magnets with opposite polarity facing up and attach to a dc motor. As the motor spins, the magnets cause the magnet inside of the cup to spin. This was the piece I created and printed
