The Shenanighans That Make Up Me

Katie and I. We are the masters of shenanighans.

Background

I transferred into MIT as a Course 6.2 student. I very quickly found that I have no coding skills. In theory I understand what I am suppose to do, it just never works. So, I have reached the conclusion that 6.1 is more up my alley. Prior to MIT I spent my time at a few different colleges across the United States. For the 6 years prior to that I was a Reactor Operator on the USS George H.W. Bush (CVN-77).

Gotta throw this silly pic in...

Inspiration

I have a lovely roommate named Belle. She is 11-years old. She is a German..... Shepherd mix. Oh, also, she is missing her right hind leg. Honestly she does pretty well as long as she doesn't need to walk across campus, walk on tile, harwood floor, linoleum..... then she does beautifully. With age, her hind end and back have started to weaken. As such, her and I have figured out a way to get her places when she gets tired. It's ingenious really. I carry a 50-lb dog in my arms. I agree, super cute!......for the first 10 feet. Her and I had a talk and decided she is ready to chase squirrels assisted by a wheelchair.

After our house caught on fire, Belle was incharge of the kitten.

Other Activities

Belle and I enjoy travel, long walks on the beach, animal watching, people watching, barn visiting, car rides, food, and basically anything that gets us out of our dorm.

Adventures are always the best!

Technical Background

Growing up I hung out in the woodshop with my father, so in theory I can build stuff and things. After highschool graduation I joined the Navy as I couldn't afford college. In the Navy....(yes, I hope this song is stuck in your head now) I boiled water. This hot water was used for propulsion, electricity, and aircraft catapults on an aircraft carrier. While on board I stood watch, performed maintenance, swabbed the decks, and learned a metric ton. My title was Electronics Technician. I really only ever did plug and play stuff.

Effectively what I did...

This past summer I interned with Lockheed Martin and got to explore the world of lasers. It was wicked neat and I learned a ton. I got to do quite a bit of hands on work with boards and I helped design a couple processing units and some other nerdy stuff like that.

Sorry, no photos! Here is my old cat Bonnie!
