About Me

joonhaeng lee

Hi! I am Joonhaeng Lee, a first-year Master of Design student at Harvard Graduate School of Design. I am interested in utilizing parametric design to make design formulas rather single objects. I am interested in building web-based parametric objects, folding paper, and creating machines that make my design.

Previously, I studied architecture at Yonsei University in Korea. I also worked on building façade design and fabrication at Syntegrate, a leading Building Information Modeling (BIM) consultancy in East Asia. I created 3D parametric models and 2D laser cutting curves for fabricating aluminum panels and curved steel structures atypical shaped buildings.

During my professional work, I frequently visited factories to see how my design and drawings are manufactured. In their hidden warehouse, I was able to find beautiful custom machines that do specific things very well. Since then, I dreamed about making paper-folding machines that produce my folding design objects. I worked on following building projects.
