How To Make (Almost) Anything

Week 4

This week was spent learning how to use the CNC machine and make something BIG

Desk Design

For creating something big I wanted to make a desk top. This top would have 2 side panels with many different settings to be able to elevate the setting at which someone keeps their laptop on. If they wanted to go to a standing desk format, they could simply raise the panels to a higher setting. In addition, I wanted to have space as a shelf on the top of the desk to put items on it. I created the design with 2 flat table tops, 2 sides, and a support beam in the back. The tables can be moved to different settings. I made this in Solidworks and then Anthony (shout out lab instructors) helped me use use software for the CNC machine. Below I have provided some intermediate steps and the final product. I think it is super cool.

I found this week really cool. I am glad my SolidWorks skills are increasing and my skill at engineering parts is getting better
