This week, I made a piece of furniture. This is a piece of furniture that can be used by two people at the same time, with a chair on one side and a standing table on the other side. This design attempts to narrow the distance between the two users. At the same time keep their own private space. I also made a side table as a backup.
The connection of this piece of furniture uses a C-shaped channel design, and every part of this piece of furniture has an assembly sequence. I was a little worried about the joints because osb is too soft, but the results show it works well :)
1. Model it in Rhino
2. Prepare Mastercam file3. Mill and Assemble It
The milling process is not complex. Chris and Zain helped me set up the file. But I spent a long time to assemble them together. During the gluing process, it is not easy to clamp the osb pieces in the right position because of the small force area and the curved geometry.
This piece of furniture can be used by two people at the same time or used by individual according to the needs.
We tested the gap length 0.49inch, 0.5inch, 0.51inch, 0.52inch, and 0.53inch, and we found 0.5inch works the best for osb board in 1/2" thickness.
