Molding & Casting

First, I modeled a pyramid in Rhino and then Jen set it up for me in Mastercam so that we could mill it. We milled a wax block with a positive of my pyramid model and negative of the mold. Then I filled the wax block with a two part oomoo mixture and once that dried I had a negativ mold for the pyramid. Finally, I filled the mold with plaster and let it dry. I could've done a little better with minimizing the air bubbles that showed up on the final pyramid by mixing and pouring slower and tapping out bubbles after filling the mold.

Originally, I wanted to make an MF DOOM mask because the shops had tin bismuth so that we could cast in metal. However, the mill we used for milling the wax block only had 2 degrees of freedom and made it very complicated to do the mas and it also would have had to been a two-part mold which further complicated things. In the future I am considering 3D Printing a positive of the mask and then submerging that in Oomoo to create a mold that way.
