Computer-Controlled Cutting

Vinyl Cutting

This week I chose to vinyl cut the iron man arc reactor logo because MIT lol. I found a png online that was a simple white and black image so it would be easy for the software to decipher. I also decided to create a magazine organizer for the laser cutting project.
Then I put it on the vinyl cutter. At first I accidentally forgot to set the size properly, so it started to print a 17 in x 17 in sticker. Then I changed the dpi to be much higher and it shrunk the vinyl sticker down. Here are some pictures of the vinyl sticker.

Laser Cutting

For this week's assignment I decided to design an "aesthetic" magazine or book organizer. The goal was to make it look like a wave. I had some inspo pictures but I seem to have lost them. I just want to say I can't take full credit for the idea.
This was the first time I CADed since high school and I had a really hard time figuring it out. I tried using FreeCAD at first and I could not figure it out. There weren't that many resources on the internet for how to use it compared to Fusion 360 so I switched to Fusion 360 instead.
This was also the first time I had laser cut cardboard. I struggled a lot with figuring out how to convert a CAD file to a form for the laser cutter. Then I had to tape down the cardboard so it laid flat on the laser cutter bed because apparently the warp would mess up the cut. I had to use two sheets to cut all the pieces needed for my magazine organizer.
