Vinyl Cutting

Anti-Facial Recognition Stickers

With facial recognition becoming an increasing concern, there has been a rising trend at protests of painting "antifacial rcognition patterns" that mimic the dark points of the face that these systems look for, ultimatley confusing and distorting it's output. For this exercise, I attempted to create vinyl patterns and test them, to allow for intricate, beautiful, and functional designs to be quickly applied to the face.

Process

I began by referencing existing makeup. I worked with both geometric and organic patterns. Using Adobe Illustrator, I drew my designs, overlayed over a face. I then used a facial data collection script to see which design was effective. I chose to cut several designs using the Cricut Explore and then analyze them via the script. Some were very effective, while others didn't impact the system's understanding of the face at all.
