The assignment this week: Come up with an idea for a final project and model it.
For the final project, I have a basic goal and a stretch goal. The basic goal: build an electric keyboard. The stretch goal: integrate this with a screen that spans the length of the keyboard that demonstrates how to play a song. Kinda like Synthesia but actually on your piano, next to the actual notes.
I drew some inital designs and looked at wikipedia and reddit to figure out the proper dimensions of the piano keys. I'm still a little unclear how I would make the keys feel weighted, and how I would register dynamics on the keyboard. As a pianist, both of those things are very important to me.
Being new to CAD software, I struggled to get very many designs completed. I managed to model a white key (C, to be specific) and a black key (which can be any black key). I used FreeCAD to make the designs.
