assignment: do your lab's safety training test runout, alignment, fixturing, speeds, feeds, materials, and toolpaths for your machine
We did our safety training! Many of us used the same CNC router to make our molds in molding and casting week, so we had an abbreviated training about specifically using the machine with OSB
Materials: we were all given 1-2 4x4 OSB boards to work with depending on how much we needed. A couple people chose to use other materials to make things that looked nicer or stronger.
Feeds and Speeds: Anthony helped us a lot in terms of recommended feeds and speeds. From Anthony: "Tools this week will be 2D Contours with a 0.375 flat endmill run at 12000 rpm 120 IPM full depth of cut for external cuts and 0.125" flat endmill run at 12000 rpm 100IPM 0.25" depth of cut for internal spaces and corners."
Toolpaths: We used fusion360 manufacturing to generate the toolpaths.
We did a test cut of a comb shape to determine what thickness the fixturing would need to be to hold the pieces together snugly.
