The assignment for this week was to design something in CAD that could be a potential final project. I had difficulty thinking of what to work on at first, but as I was walking back to Eliot House I passed by some old parking meters. The thought that crossed my mind was that they looked silly, and using them wouldn't be intuitive. I settled that I would try to CAD a design for a more intuitive, 'futuristic' parking meter.
While I'm not sure this is what my final project will end up being for the class, I had a fun time designing this parking meter. I think the design is more reflective of how people would prefer to use them (a QR code) rather than with cash. However, I realized that for accessibility reasons, cash would probably also be a necessary payment option. I also included solar panels at the top, an LCD screen, and a card-tap payment option.
