Wildcard Week: Embroidering

This week, I decided to try embroidering. I worked on this project with Namirah, and it turned out to be a fun and challenging experience.

Embroidery machine

The embroidery machine I used this week.

I selected a simple design that was already uploaded to the machine. It caught my attention because it looked cool—it said "SLU" (Saint Louis University?) with a rugby ball. Before starting, I had to carefully align my shirt in a plastic device to keep it taut during the process.

Once everything was set up, the machine began embroidering. It was functioning perfectly, and it was fascinating to watch the design take shape.

Unfortunately, when the rugby ball portion of the design was being embroidered, my shirt got caught on a piece below the embroidery surface. The only way to fix it was to cut the fabric, which left a noticeable hole in my shirt.

Reflection

Learning to embroider was an exciting experience, despite the mishap with my shirt. It was enjoyable to experiment with a new machine and see the design come to life. I would definitely try this again in the future!
