3D Printing

After determining the tolerances of the machines from the group assignment, I decided to make a fidget toy, one that couldn't be put together afterwards, and shaped like an anomalocaris. I modeled it in Fusion, and then printed it on the Bambu with a 50% upscale.

However, with my first iteration, the joint holding portion had a lot of acute and sharp corners, so the printer was unable to print the part that would prevent the joints from falling out.

I ended up making the joints larger and further into the parts to avoid the acute sharp corners situation, as well as redesigning the body. I also scaled up the claws.

After that, I went back to the printer. This time, I used the Prusa MK4 and scaled it up by 75%.

It works :D

3D Scanning

At first, I wanted to try and scan this small mushroom sculpture. However, the preview did not pick up the base as it was dark brown, so I went with a pirate bust. I used the scanner in the EDS lab to scan it, but was unable to get the fine details with the spinning board. This is likely because the spinning board is programmed to spin at one speed and does not communicate with the program about it. Nevertheless, it was able to pick up the overall shape of the object.
